Is 2012 another Y2K in the making? Are the predictions based in fact or doomsday fantasy? What’s really going to happen in 2012 and what will the world look like in 2013? It seems as though everyone has a book, movie or seminar filled with predictions geared to answer those questions. While there is no absolute agreement regarding what will happen, everyone seems to agree on when these events will happen. Before we can enjoy the promise of 2013, we will first need to navigate 2012.

December 21, 2012 is the singular point in time where all the predictions for change converge. So let’s look at what some of the experts say will happen at that time.

We must begin with the Maya whose long count calendar will end on that date. The Maya, most often sited when making 2012 predictions, measured cycles of purpose through time in creating their calendars. For the Maya living day to day there would be multiple calendars keeping track of personal and community cycles. The cycle we are in now, referred to as a long count cycle, comes to conclusion at the end of life as we know it so that we can begin a new cycle and new life. The Maya do not necessarily say that life will end; only that it will end in the way we know it to be. That means life will change.

The Mayan cycles of time become shorter with each repetition and speed up as human consciousness awakened. In her book The Mayan Code: Time Acceleration and Awakening the World Mind, Barbara Hand Cloud references the Maya cycles and notes an evolutionary leap at the close of each cycle.

Marie D. Jones, in her book 2013, references Robert Anton Wilson’s Acceleration of Knowledge Theory in which he logarithmically describes the intervals of time between the invention of information processing systems and their actual development. Wilson’s theory basically says that the interval of time from the conception of an information system and its actual release to the public get shorter and shorter with each cycle until a singularity is achieved. Wilson theorized (back in 1988) that the cycles double in time throughout history and that each doubling is coming faster and faster. This snowball effect corresponds with the Maya perception of time speeding up.

Think of a bouncing ball as it approaches its resting point. As the ball bounces up and down, the distance between the apexes of the ball’s arc to the floor becomes shorter and shorter. The ball bounces faster and faster as the number of bounces increases and approaches an infinite number of bounces (or cycles) before it comes to rest. For those living on the bouncing ball, time would appear to be speeding up until life as they know it stopped all together.

Thomas McKenna’s Novelty Theory describes this phenomenon by plotting novelty and complexity along a curve (called a Time Wave) that approaches a singularity (or omega point) in which everything and anything a human mind can conceive will occur simultaneously. There is so much information that is available today about the mayan prediction of the end of the world that I can understand why some researchers into this particular topic sometimes become overwhelmed and confused whilst studying it, this is because the prediction itself is so multi faceted and complex that not only is it not specific to the Mayan civilization itself but it’s also not restricted to one area of research or thinking.

When I’m discussing the topic of the mayan prediction of the end of the world with people the first thing I always like to point out is that this phrase “end of the world” at least in the context of the Mayan prophecies is not talking about a apocalyptic doomsday scenario that wipes out all life on the planet but rather its speaking of the end of the world as we know it, bringing about change and ushering in a new age that we will live in.

However don’t misconstrue what I’m saying there, by no means does this indicate that we will not be going through some tough times in the years ahead, you only need look around you every day into our world to realize there is at least some volatility to the mayan prediction of the end of the world. We see it in the form of natural disasters and in the general social makeup of society these days.

And it is this aspect of the degradation of our society that I want to speak to right now, because whilst it is true that natural disasters may bring about the end of the world as we know it as foretold in the mayan prediction of the end of the world, what we see if we look around us is that mankind has been so misguided and mislead by both our leaders and each other that we have lost touch with the universe around us, and the affects of this are becoming dangerous for our society.

You know you only need to turn on your television to see this, you instantly see channel after channel of mindless garbage designed to warp and alter your mind into a certain way of thinking, people are becoming more violent and even as individuals our thoughts of what is really important in life is being dramatically altered by the false ideology that the corporate media propagates to us.

Whilst on the surface this degradation of our society may not appear to tie into the mayan prediction of the end of the world, when we step back and look at it from a different perspective we begin to see quite clearly that it is.

Mankind has developed a level of idiocy and ignorance that is border lining on total insanity, we have men and women totally obsessed with the latest fashion, the latest gadgets and trendy things, with a complete disconnect from the natural world around them. Countless children’s minds are being altered to buy into this superficial crap and in the long term this can only have the affect of creating a self centered un caring society, with this in mind, as technology progresses do you think that it will be long before as a society we begin to destroy each other in a world war three type situation because our horrible selfishness and greed takes over? Personally I do not.

And whilst this is only one specific aspect of the mayan prediction of the end of the world, I particularly think its important because if we as individuals begin to alter our attitudes and ways of thinking, and pass these views on to our children, then at least one of these black scenarios can be avoided and since the nature of our society is completely up to our control I think It is worth taking the time to speak out against the nonsense that is being propagated to our world.

The mayan prediction of the end of the world specifically talks about how the people will be ignorant to the changes that are approaching, and that whilst some will become awake and aware in the final days, the vast majority of people will be led like lambs to the slaughter because their souls had been turned black on the inside, Now I’m sure if your reading this right now you are not one of those people, and I’m quite sure you want to do something about it.

It was Gandhi who said “be the change you want to see in the world” and this is very important even when talking about the mayan prediction of the end of the world, because even though we are moving into a new age, and yes we are going to experience some very challenging times, on the other side of this will be something so beautiful and fantastic we can only understand it in our dreams.

The world held its breath when the countdown to the year 2000 happened, as the ball slowly dropped in New York, people panicked. The people in the world were all caught up in the end of the world or Y2K and after the calendars marked January 1, 2000 life went on as usual. Absolutely nothing happened on Y2K or even came close to happening, people were confused, they had built up so much hype to the event that no one really knew why the world was doomed. Here civilization is again in the year 2009 and what a surprise the world has to end again. Christianity says that god will come back somewhere in the year 2000-3000 time frame, which somehow translates into 2012, and Judasiam seems to think the end comes at 2240. Buddhists seem uninterested in the idea of the apocalypse and as usual have the best explanation of things stating that, in simple terms, the end of the world is the end of their religion to them.

Christianity has no real connection to the 2012 apocalypse but it does give a broad term on which the end of days is supposed to happen. Christianity simply states that the end of the world will come somewhere in between the years of 2000-3000. Because of all the propaganda of the Mayan calendar, the date 2012 just so happens to fit under that time frame. It’s funny however, because tomorrow and the next day fit under that as well as next week and the week after. According to Christianity it could just happen any day now but because the Mayans said 2012 then it has to be 2012. Christianity, however, does contradict itself by saying, quote, “…..because Jesus had said to his followers to be alert or be ready at all times.” This means that, according to Christianity, the world could end at any given moment; however Mayans, who weren’t even close to living at the same time Christianity was around, somehow predicted 2012 as the end. Due to the propaganda that favors 2012 as being the end, people use Christianity as a backup reason on why the world is going to end that year. Because Christianity’s timeframe for the apocalypse is so large, these religious beliefs have to be struck from the non religious 2012 belief.

Somehow, through meaningless calculations like the Y2K prediction, the Jewish faith has predicted the end of days to be many years away from 2012. The Jews have predicted the year to be 2240 on which the world is supposed to end. This calculation, which is based on the Talmud, is absolutely nowhere near the glorified 2012 date. Even in Judaism the apocalypse isn’t talked about much but that same apocalypse has something to do with a new world. In other words, when this world ends a new world begins. The predictions of the 2012 end of days seem to lean more towards the total annilation of the earth with no beginning of a new world. This combined with the fact that the dates are very far from each other simply mean that the correlation between the 2012 armageddon and that of Judaism’s predictions don’t match up.

Buddhism usually offers insight of questions that usually go unanswered or ignored in other religions and offers a great insight to the end of the world. The end of the world according to Buddhism will result in, quote, “Buddha’s teachings will disappear from the Earth, only to be reinstated by a new Buddha. Unsurprisingly, the “mellowest” of the end-time scenarios.” This simple means that the religion itself will fade away from the earth instead of an unavoidable doom to all humanity. As usual Buddhism uses its hidden logical side to make sense out of the hysteria but in turn has the least correlation between the 2012 predictions. Buddhists on the web refer to the 2012 apocalypse as things like “uninteresting” and “monotonous in the fact that humanity is always looking for a date to die on.” Buddhism as a religion has absolutely no correlation to the 2012 prophesies, even less so than Judaism and Christianity.

In conclusion, the completely blown out of proportion 2012 date has little to no correlation to three major religions. What if the Mayans simply ran out of room to make the calendar because they couldn’t continue it forever? The 2012 is liberal media at its best and is also a result on letting ignorance run crazy in the streets of America.

It has long been thought that hidden among the Hebrew characters of the Torah were messages written in code predicting all events that will ever happen on this earth. It even appears within the code that the code was locked to us until now – the end of days – and it is fact that the shear size of the Torah made decoding the hidden message virtually impossible until the recent development of computer software up to the task.

Bible codes 2012 have been found and would seem to collaborate the Mayan prophecy of 2012. Among the words embedded in Bible text regarding 2010 are “days of horror”, “gloom”, “darkness” and “comet”. For 2012 the message is even more ominous, with encoded words including “comet” and “earth annihilated”. There is also a suggestion that a comet will be broken into pieces, possibly by a missile, before part of it hits California.

The last encoded date found so far is 2126 AD. This is a bit encouraging, as it does imply that the earth will not be utterly destroyed in our lifetime. However, there does seem to be a message in Bible Codes 2012 that is also implied by the Mayan prophecy, the world as we know it will be changed forever in December, 2012.The question is, can we survive?
